About saveTu.be
SaveTu.be was created and is run by a team of individuals tired of large corporations trying to convince everybody that sharing intellectual property is a bad thing.
The fact of the matter is it isn't. You cannot try to broadcast information and at the same time try to not distribute it. One of the best examples of this happening is the tactic of record companies allowing you to stream (download) music videos from their vevo sites and then going around and suing anybody else who tries to distribute these. The problem with streaming You see is that a media stream is actually a plain file download with a fancy name and a obscure download destination (most usually a temporary folder). Why would you be prohibited to re-use that file while offline? Well, You shouldn't that is a fact. Trying to enforce this is like sending out promotional material of a product and then trying to prohibit people from using it.
Some asked "ok, so why don't you just promote other sites, there are many
sites that do this type of thing for years."
Well, the simple explanation is that we really don't think they are doing it
right.
Why?
Because all of them rely on JAVA applets running unconfined on
your system.
And why is that so bad?
Well You really shouldn't trust anybody with your system in that matter.
Unconfined programs have no boundaries on what they are allowed to do on
the system they are running (yours). This means that should they want they
could easily install mallware on your machine, circumventing your antivirus
and owning your computer from then on. There have been numerous occasion
where viruses were implanted on systems this way. So no, this is not the
right route to take.
Ok, so why is your page better?
We use only javascript on the client side; and for user convenience we
haven't even minified or obfuscated it. What this means for You is that if
You should want to you can just look at the instructions being executed, this
projects client side is completely open to the users.
This is how we believe software development should happen and this is what
we promote.
So, here we are, we currently only support Youtube but are making plans for all the major video streaming services. If you want to see a specific service being supported go ahead and please contact us via the contact section of this site.
